The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established with the mandate of developing and maintaining an effi cient and safe national road network. UNRA has set out to have 20,000 km of fi rst class roads with comfortable riding experience, predictable travel times and safe journeys by 2025. As a drive towards fulfi lling this vision, UNRA is exploring alternative road technologies as well as assessing the performance of roads/road sections that were constructed using non-traditional technologies. One such road is the 41.1 Km-long Matugga-Semuto-Kapeeka Pilot Demonstration Project (PDP).

2. Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) is seeking Consultancy Services for Monitoring the Performance of Sections Built for the Demonstration of Innovative Technologies for Road Construction. This study is to pioneer the development of non-traditional construction technologies for sealed low volume traffi c roads in Uganda through monitoring the performance of the road sections that were constructed using non-traditional technologies in the PDP. The information acquired from monitoring the performance of these road sections may provide the evidence required to support a broad range of nontraditional road technology analysis.

3. Scope of Project The project will involve a desk study as well as field and laboratory investigations.
