1. The Government of Uganda (GOU) has received financing from the African Development Fund (ADF) towards the cost of the Multinational Uganda/Kenya: Kapchorwa-Suam-Kitale and Eldoret Bypass Roads Project. It is intended that part of the agreed loan proceeds will be used for payments under the contract for Consultancy Services for Training Communities in Modern Bee Keeping and Honey Processing along the Kapchorwa-Suam Road (73 Km) section.

2. The Main Objective of the assignment is to Training in modern bee keeping and honey production in the project area aimed at empowering unemployed youth, farmers and "FGM surgeons" and TBAs with skills that will contribute to eradication of poverty (SDG1) and creation of employment opportunities and sustained livelihoods (SDG8).

The key activities shall include;

i. Identifying the existing Land cover including forest reserves (natural & planted) within the project area (Government, Community, Game and Private) and their extent of utilization for modern beekeeping.

ii. Identify bee species diversity; and analysing investment opportunities in forestry and beekeeping sector within the project area.

iii. Identifying key stakeholders including Women who abandoned FGM, TBAs, unemployed youth, community Based Organisations, NGOs as well as National Stakeholders.

iv. Under take training in modem beekeeping techniques and honey processing through value addition

v. To analyze;

• The financial requirements of such actions or interventions; • the human resources and training requirements;

• Requirements for value addition

• The infrastructure needs; and

• The environmental concerns including mitigation plans and their associated costs.

3. The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) now invites consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions such as Road Safety Audit, availability of appropriate skills among staff,). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

4. Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure stmtl be in accordance with Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations. dated October 2015, which is available on the Bank's website at http://www.afdb.org
